Faith Journey
Jennifer shared her faith journey, beginning with growing up in church but not fully engaging with it until 2020 when she and her husband Raymond began rethinking their relationship with faith. She described how a friend's questions about living together influenced them to start watching Billy Graham's sermons on YouTube and eventually return to church. Jennifer explained how this period helped her distinguish between New Age ideology and the true gospel message, leading to her and Raymond's marriage and ongoing faith journey.
Jennifer discussed how God continues to pursue people in their spiritual journey, contrasting this with New Age beliefs that emphasize self-deification. She explained that New Age movements promise personal power and divinity but ultimately lead to disappointment when people fail to manifest their desires.
Jennifer warned that these teachings create a "bait and switch" scenario where individuals end up feeling like failures when their manifestations don't materialize.
Faith & Business
Jennifer discussed her faith journey, sharing that trust in God's guidance was the hardest truth for her to believe, particularly during challenging periods in her business. She explained how her business Pure and Simple began after realizing college teaching wasn't the right path, leading her to start an organizing business that later expanded to include estate sales services.
Jennifer emphasized that the heart behind her business model is serving clients who are overwhelmed with clutter or busy schedules.
Jennifer discussed her journey in starting an estate sale service with her team, highlighting unexpected opportunities including a successful consignment store called the Mustard Seed Mercantile in Gastonia. The store operates on a pop-up schedule, one weekend per month, and will reopen in September after being closed during summer.
Jennifer explained how the business evolved from an antique mall concept to a combined antique mall and consignment space that serves clients who might not be suitable for estate sales.
Jennifer discussed her experience with estate sales and how she helps clients navigate emotional situations while downsizing or dealing with the aftermath of a loved one's passing. She emphasized the importance of grace, mercy, and support during these challenging times.
Jennifer shared about practicing "be still and know" from the Bible, engaging in daily Bible reading, and connecting with a church community for support and fellowship.
Trust in God's Business Plans
Jennifer shared a personal story about questioning her path when she and her husband purchased a new home while running their online business, only to face business decline and financial stress with two mortgages. She described feeling trapped in what she called a "Red Sea moment" and prayed for guidance as the situation became overwhelming. Over time, client projects began to recover, allowing them to move forward with their plans.
Jennifer and Jes discussed the challenges of trusting in God's plan rather than their own plans, particularly in business situations where client arrivals and finances are uncertain. She had to learn to live "open-handed" and trust in God's guidance through difficult moments.
When you find yourself facing your own "Red Sea moment" of feeling stuck, Jennifer recommended surrendering to God's plan through prayer and trust, emphasizing that whatever happens, God remains in control.
Jennifer shared insights about finding encouragement through remembering God's faithfulness in past experiences and emphasized the importance of seeking His will through prayer and Bible study.
