SHOW NOTES

Cally came to know the Lord at a very young age, but as she matured in her faith, she experienced the presence of God in new and powerful ways. In high school she struggled with depression, but she always knew that God’s presence was with her, sustaining her.

When Cally was in her early 20’s, she had a dream where she received a vision of her future self. In the dream she was in her 30’s and she could tell that she had a new confidence that she didn’t have when she was younger. She could tell that the woman she was supposed to become was someone who was very assured in who God is and who she is; she was walking in the light. She didn’t feel down that she wasn’t yet this version of herself, rather she felt hope that she could become this woman with God and walk with God.

We all have this opportunity to grow with God and become the most healthy, vibrant version of who God created us to be!

LETTING GO OF DREAMS

Cally had to let go of certain things that she thought were her dreams. She learned that God doesn’t remove something from your life without a plan to fill that space with something you need and more of His presence. God always understands our dreams and passions better than we do and He is making something beautiful out of our stories.

When we lose something important to us, it is easy to feel bitter and angry with The Lord. We see this in the book of Ruth when Naomi changes her name to Mara, which means “bitter” because she is devastated by the loss of her sons. But the story doesn’t end there. Even though Naomi’s life wasn’t easy and she experienced great pain and loss, the story ends with a grandbaby on her lap,  joy in her heart, and a place in the line of David.

When we go through loss, we must take time to grieve the loss, but there must also come a time when we release it to God and say, “Lord, this thing I lost was very precious to me, but as precious as it was to me, I know that I am even more precious to you. So I trust that you are holding my heart and you’re holding my dreams. Help me desire the dreams and good things that you do have for me. Help me to accept those things with a joyous heart and see them as your best for me.”

THE FAITHFULNESS OF GOD IN DARK PLACES

When we are walking through hardship, it is easy to forget the ways that God has been faithful to us in the past. When you experience God’s faithfulness in your life, write it down so you can draw strength and encouragement from it in future seasons in struggle. God has been faithful in the past and He will be faithful again!

Think of these moments of faithfulness like pearls that you are collecting. They are precious moments that you can treasure when you need to be reminded of God’s precious presence in your life.

When we experience moments of anxiety and we welcome God into our situation, He might not take away the anxiety or depression immediately, but He will always be with you.

Put on your pearls so you never forget the goodness and faithfulness of God in your life!

PRESENCE OF GOD

During Covid, Cally’s dad had a massive heart attack. It was terrifying to walk through this, but the presence of God sustained her and her family every step of the way. Cally’s dad experienced a miracle and survived!

Cally shares that she really related to Mary and Martha at this moment. Jesus shows us after their brother, Lazarus, had died and they were heartbroken. They knew Jesus could heal Lazarus, but they didn’t know if he would. Either way, he was still good and still with them.

YES TO GOD

When we give God our “yes”, He can do more with it than we could have ever imagined. Cally shares that she experienced this in her writing, but that it also applies to each of us in whatever path God has us on.

There is also great freedom in walking in obedience.

Sometimes when we get a closed door at first, it is just not the right timing. God sees the full picture and He understands the perfect timing of how everything will fit together. Continue to be faithful and move forward in obedience and God will open doors at the right time.

THE WALLFLOWER THAT BLOOMED

Cally’s latest book is to encourage men and women to practically and tactically become who God created you to be. It helps us answer the question, “Who does your maker say you are and how can you walk in abundant freedom?”

Ideas from the book:

  1. Taking an inventory of your wardrobe and seeing what articles of clothing are truly “you”. Get rid of anything that is not authentically you and next time you go shopping, invite God along and ask Him to show you items that reflect your true style. This creates garments of praise that you can wear with confidence.

  2. Invite God along when you are shopping for a gift for someone else. Ask him to direct you to something special for that person. You may be very surprised by where He leads you and how it is exactly what that person needed!

  3. Create a seasonal missing statement. It can be a verse or Bible story that is on your heart for a particular season. This can be a banner that you carry into the season.

CALLING

In this season Cally has been reflecting on the concept of calling. She has been asking The Lord to show her places where she is leaning into her calling and places where she is holding back in fear. If we are holding something back from The Lord, then we miss out because we are not living fully out of who we were created to be.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Don’t underestimate God and His timing. Even if things seem hopeless, continue to trust in The Lord.

Psalm 27:13-14

I remain confident of this:

I will see the goodness of the Lord

in the land of the living.

Wait for the Lord;

    be strong and take heart

    and wait for the Lord.

Wait upon The Lord, He is good and faithful to finish the work that He started.

NEXT STEPS

Here are a few action steps to help you dip deeper this week!

  1.  Prayerfully identify any dreams or plans you’ve been holding onto that may no longer align with God’s best for you. Ask Him to fill that space with His presence and new purpose.

  2. Create a “Pearl Journal”-- Start a notebook or digital note where you record moments of God’s faithfulness. Revisit these when you need encouragement in hard seasons.

  3. Craft a Seasonal Mission Statement. Choose a verse, story, or phrase that resonates with your current season.

  4. Memorize Psalm 27:13–14.
