S4 Episode #23- Darlaine Sisk

THE ONE WITH DARLAINE SISK

Darlaine Sisk serves as the Chief Executive Officer for Benchmark 5, a management consulting firm named after their Chairman, Hall of Fame MLB catcher Johnny Bench.  She also enjoys working with Bolay, an amazing fast casual concept that began in Florida and is now starting to expand nationally.  In her free time, Darlaine loves spending time with her husband David and daughter Victoria, as well as her mom and dad who now live close-by (an amazing God story!), her bonus daughter Kelsey, her bonus son Jordan, daughter-in-love Jessie, and their girls, Remi and Blake. She loves traveling, enjoys the Arts, attending sports events, and volunteering at church and children-related cause organizations.  She also loves listening to worship music and would love to find a way to connect teens with Christian artists who could encourage them and provide ways to channel their anxiety and worries into songwriting, leveraging the blessing of music as a creative outlet while sharing the love, hope, and peace we have in Jesus Christ.

Darlaine loves looking back and seeing how God has directed her path.  She began her 20-year career at Procter & Gamble (P&G) in 1996 in Market Research where she held a variety of leadership positions across Consumer & Market Knowledge, Shopper Marketing, and Sales, with her last 3 years spent in Toronto, Canada where she was the CMK Canada Country leader.  Some of her favorite roles included pioneering the way for research and interactive marketing within the digital arena, being blessed to travel globally to train e-commerce teams and retailer partners, driving a Consumer and Shopper Insights to Action mindset with innovative research and consumer-inspired branding techniques, and helping build the 1st ever P&G Shopper Lab that was expanded globally.

In 2016, Darlaine and David felt God call them to move to Florida for a new career opportunity for David, so they moved there with expectation.  Darlaine was excited to volunteer at her daughter’s Christian school and then realized that God had plans for her to be able to leverage what she learned at P&G to serve there, so she became the Chief Advancement Officer, responsible for Admissions, PR, Marketing, Community Partnerships and Development.  She also served as the Interim President of the 900 PK2-12th grade multi-campus private school in January – June 2020 when she felt God leading her to earn her MBA at Baylor (Spring 2022) and then find a new way to leverage the diverse experiences He had given her to make a positive impact.

When God Feels Far Away

“If you don’t feel close to God, guess who moved.”

God is always with us, He will never leave us. When God feels distant, take some intentional time to remember the ways that He has provided for you in the past. He has provided and he will continue to provide. He is Jehovah Jireh, The LORD our provider!

You are not in this life alone. Sometimes it is other believers who can remind you of the ways that God is working in your life.

When you are in the middle of a struggle, it might feel like God is being silent because He is not responding in the way that you desire. BUT, He sees the full picture and knows the complete story. He is working on your behalf, and sometimes in hindsight, the “no” is the biggest blessing.

Fill your mind and heart with worship music.

Expecting God to Provide

When Darlaine was walking through some dark days with her mom’s health scare, she struggled with doubt and carrying blame for what happened. However, God in His goodness, opened her eyes to all the ways that He provided in the midst of the pain.

When we are in the middle of the struggle we can easily miss the small provisions. We must move in the world with the expectation that God will show up and God will provide.

When we are at the end of our own resources, all we can do is pray. This opens the door for God to show up in powerful ways! When things are out of our hands, it can be freeing to know that God is still in control.

The Character of God

God is a God of love. He is a loving father. He shows constant grace and mercy. In Him, all hope is found!

Luke 12:7 – “Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”

The God of the universe cares enough about me to know the number of hairs on my head. This shows such love and attention to detail.

Me on Your Mind by Matthew West

“Who am I that the King of the world

Would give one single thought about my broken heart?

Who am I that the God of all grace

Wipes the tears from my face and says, "Come as you are"?

You paid the price, You took the cross

You gave Your life and You did it all with me on Your mind”

We are always on God’s mind, but when we are in Christ, God does not keep our past on his mind. We are forgiven and redeemed by His grace. God loves us and longs to be in relationship with us.

Hebrews 12:8 – “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”
